What is directory password protection? Can I protect certain directory with a password? |

| | You can protect directories within your site from browsers by using a password to protect them. This allows you to restrict material to only authorized users or store sensitive material online. As well cPanel will allow you to add authorized user, changed the authorized user's password, remove certain authorized user and password protection in general.
To protect your directory with password go to control panel main page, click on the Password protect directories icon on cPanel home page.
Select the folder (directory) that you wish to password protect
Check the box folder requires a password to access via http://
Create a resource Name This will be the title in the popup window that prompts your user to login.
Save
Then you should create user
Click go back and scroll the protect directory page down.
Create a user and password. The password should be 6-8 alphanumeric characters and should not include the username.
Click add new user button
Username and password have been created successfully
Now to access the protected directory a user must firstly login
To remove directory password protection go to control panel main page, click on the Password protect directories icon on cPanel home page. Uncheck the box near Folder requires a password to access save changes. You are done! |
